It was a pleasure for a Christian Scientist to read the article in your June 14 issue headed "Our Mother, Who Art In Heaven." Except for one thing.

Encouraging as it is that theologians of traditional faiths are urging that God be called Mother as well as Father, this comes as no news to members of a church who for more than 80 years have been addressing the Supreme Being as "our Father-Mother God."

This year the Church of Christ, Scientist, is celebrating the centennial of the book by its Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, called "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," in which she long ago wrote, "Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation" (332:4).

It's good to know that the idea is spreading.
