LAB WORK

"Mother, will you help me
With this problem?
I just can't find the time.
And then, besides, my thoughts
Are all confused.
You always do it so well."

But I began to think—
Could I go to school
When the term begins
And approach my math instructor
Saying: "I'll read the book
And discuss the fundamentals
But Mother will do the problems
And homework, too, of course"?

The absolute absurdity
Of this plan
Brings a laugh,
And yet
The point is made.
No one can pass a Science course
Without many active hours
In the lab.
