God's goodness can never be devalued or inflated
The Economy Is Servant, Not Master
Disturbances in the human economy call for spiritual solutions. Recurring economic crises in some countries have caused an increase in the number of jobless. At the same time there is a continual and perhaps broadening spotlight on such injustices as underemployment and discriminatory practices. In the light of Christian Science we can take a penetrating look at these issues and find answers that are rewarding on both the individual and global level.
The healing of economic ills is just as important and just as possible as the healing of disease. The spiritually scientific approach to such healing involves affirming man's heritage as the spiritual reflection of God, blameless and whole. It means reversing mortal opinions about the functioning of the economy and our probable place—or lack of it—in that economy. The Bible supports us in this understanding: "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ." Rom. 8:16, 17; The need is to find out what God is and how He governs the universe and man, to draw close to Him and accept His spiritual creation as the only reality. Mrs. Eddy confirms the importance of turning first to God for the healing of every troublesome situation. She writes, "The starting-point of divine Science is that God, Spirit, is All-in-all, and that there is no other might nor Mind,—that God is Love, and therefore He is divine Principle." Science and Health, p. 275;
There is no interruption in the relationship between God, the divine Mind and supplier of all good, and man, His beloved idea. God is constantly imparting to man sustaining spiritual ideas and strength. God's creation is already complete. It is perfectly functioning without trouble spots, lack, dissension, economic woes, individual injustices. This is what we need to recognize. The law of material supply and demand as well as other human economic rulings would claim power over our life, health, and happiness. But God, Life, is the source of all goodness; He is all-power and ever present. This fact, as it is accepted in thought, eliminates any contest with material theories or projections. God's law is all-inclusive and is not shared with or diluted by mortal theories.
