You Don't Have to Accept Trouble!
Christian Science shows that discord and disease cannot touch us when we refuse to accept into our thought their false claims to reality. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes: "Mind is the master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death. Exercise this God-given authority. Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man." Science and Health, p. 393;
Error, or the claim of substance in matter in its myriad forms, is likened in the Bible to Satan "going to and fro in the earth, and.... walking up and down in it," Job 2:2; trying to find a place to lodge in our consciousness. We can either open our thought to admit error or close our thought to its spurious suggestions. The action we take largely determines our well-being or otherwise. And it also determines whether or not we help heal world conditions such as famine. If we would help ourselves and others we cannot afford to let evil make an impression on us. We must be quick and firm in our denial of it before it gets a foothold in our thought. When he was tempted of the devil, our Master, Christ Jesus, said forcefully, "Get thee behind me, Satan." Matt. 16:23.
The Word of God is all-powerful, and what a comfort it is to realize that, in reality, there is no resistance to this power! The divine presence is here and now. Error cannot stop the healing energies of Truth, and Mind never yields its jurisdiction to a false belief.
