What Is Soul?
"How much does a soul weigh?" This query appeared over a newspaper article telling of a scientist's attempt to weigh a soul as it left the body. Questions regarding souls have perplexed theologists and philosophers throughout the centuries. They've asked, When does a soul enter a body—at the moment of conception? At the time of birth? Do animals have souls?
Christian Science explains that Soul is God and man is God's spiritual idea, His reflection. Man reflects Soul, but not in any material body.
People often think of a "soul" as an invisible something that inhabits a body. They consider as alive those bodies with souls within them, and as dead those bodies whose souls have left them. But whether designated as alive or dead, physical bodies are part of the illusion of life in matter. They do not contain Soul, for Soul is God, and God cannot be confined.
