Christian Science has been a way of life to me

Christian Science has been a way of life to me. I attended the Sunday School and, although I strayed temporarily from the teachings, I never really lost sight of the Christ, Truth, revealed to us by Mrs. Eddy in the textbook, Science and Health, which teaches us God's love for man, His spiritual idea.

I'll always be grateful my mother took up the study of this beautiful Science after she witnessed the healing of cancer of the tongue. In my home our family had many proofs of its healing power. My father was healed of the smoking habit at the same time he was healed of influenza. My mother had a healing of sick headaches from which she had suffered for many years. And my brother and I received many healings while growing up. All our needs were met, for God cares for all His children. "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494).

An outstanding healing in our family was that of our older son when he was in high school. While in his chemistry lab one day, there was an explosion of some chemicals he was mixing. I was called to school and told by the school nurse who was caring for him that she thought there might be some injury to his eyes. She advised me to take him to a doctor. Also, his hands were burned and his eyebrows and lashes were singed. Our local Christian Science Minister for Armed Services Personnel lived just a few blocks from the school, so we drove to his home. He came out to the car and talked to our son, and began prayerful work for him in Christian Science.
