As one who has been in Christian Science nearly fifty years, I have much for which to be grateful.
During World War II, in my work which involved fleet salvage, I asked a Christian Science practitioner in Honolulu to pray for me to wisely handle this program. The salvage was successful beyond the most optimistic forecasts.
In the South Pacific, at a later date, I contracted malaria. In the early days of the war there was no Christian Science Wartime Minister in that area, so I sent a message to a Christian Science practitioner in Honolulu requesting treatment through prayer. The doctors stated that the malaria was of a type which would recur at periods for the rest of my life. However, there has been no recurrence during these thirty-two years.
