Spirituality Is Not Impractical

Spirituality, for many, suggests an otherworldliness that doesn't help us to cope with the complexities of this one. Christian Science teaches clearly why it is that spirituality resting on a metaphysical basis is highly practical—it enables us to see over the fence which the physical senses would build between us and reality, and so hinder our experiencing present good.

Spirituality and practicality are not mutually exclusive. Practicality—implying such things as the ability to run a business, laboratory, home, classroom, with efficiency—is actually enhanced by a spiritual understanding of metaphysics. To be practical from a merely mortal rationale is to be limited.

The practicality of spirituality was shown by Christ Jesus. He was the most spiritually-minded man ever. Consequently he exercised dominion over the suggestions of materiality and the restrictions and stresses that seem to accompany it.
