It is a joy to recall how I came to take up the study of Christian Science
It is a joy to recall how I came to take up the study of Christian Science. This took place in 1923 in Winnipeg, Canada. I was employed by the soloist of a Christian Science church, but was a member of another denomination.
My home had been broken up when I was six years of age, and I had never known a mother's love. At this particular time I was longing for a mother, and became very depressed and lonely, being separated from my sister and two brothers. I had attended an orthodox Sunday School, but not having the right concept of God, I was blaming Him for the wars and all the evil in the world. For three days I shut myself in my room and spent most of the day and night in tears.
On the third day my employer and her family were away, as she was giving a concert that evening. She had asked me to promise to call her if there was anything they could do for me.
