Twenty-five years ago when I first heard of Christian Science, my life seemed quite hopeless. The verdict of physicians that my condition was incurable cancer filled me with despair. A friend I had recently met after moving to another city patiently listened to my tale of woe and then presented me with a copy of Miscellaneous Writings by Mary Baker Eddy.

While reading this book and paying special attention to the chapter entitled "Questions and Answers," I felt there was some hope for me. As I continued to read, I felt greatly encouraged and became aware of a profound change in my thinking. Soon I purchased a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy, the textbook of Christian Science. My friends and family were amazed. They said I was not the same woman, and I am glad to say I was not. I was healed!

Growth in spiritual understanding really started when I most wanted to express more of the Christ in my life, and with it came the complete physical healing. Soon thereafter I joined The Mother Church and a branch church.
