How Do You Control Your Weight?
"How do you control your weight? Do you diet?"
"No."
"Do you do exercises?"
"No. I am a Christian Scientist."
"What does that have to do with it?"
"Just about everything!"
The material senses would direct attention to physical causes of overweight. Some of these causes are classified as heredity, belief in substance in matter, self-indulgence or excessive appetite, lack of exercise, and age. Christian Science teaches that being is spiritual, and when we understand this, we can begin to destroy these beliefs of material sense.
All well and good, you say, but how do we do this? A good place to start may be the account of creation given in the first chapter of Genesis. Here we learn that God's creation and all that expresses it is good. We also learn that man is made in God's image and given dominion by God over this creation.
