To Keep the Furrow Straight
George was worried.
He had been serving overseas in a military information assignment. He had been there a year and a half, and recently had been praying to be led to more constructive work. Now an opportunity to attend an information course in his home country was available to him. But he did not see it as an answer to his prayer. He exulted instead at the prospect of spending a thinly disguised thirty-day vacation with his family.
Then things began to turn sour. Other names were added to the list of candidates. Rumors flew: possibly someone of higher rank? He wondered if a mere lieutenant would ever be selected.
