Better Business Methods
I am in the real estate business. One morning each of us on the sales force was offered a sales philosophy along the lines of "think money and block out everything else." There are several current methods that advocate using the subsconscious mind in a form of self-hypnosis, or mental autosuggestion, to achieve success. I felt a responsibility to question such methods before our employer adopted that kind of approach as standard procedure.
I had long since learned from experience that working with the motive of giving good service brings reward, and Christian Science had fostered in me a deep examination of my thinking and motives, along with the desire to express consciously the divine Mind, or God and His reflection.
Christian Science operates not on the basis of many minds but of the one Mind, one God. The student of this Science loses all desire to control another secretly or to get the best of another and shuns humanly mental means advocating this. He recognizes that moneymaking, human busyness, or even the idealism of a human profession is not of itself sufficient to satisfy the deeper need for a higher purpose.
