The Gift of Abundance
In the Bible James writes: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James 1:17;
That's fine, you might say, but what are these gifts like? Where are they? Can I expect my share? How do I find them?
Something from God, who is infinite Spirit, can't be material. So, for one thing, the gift has to be spiritual. God, whom the Scriptures describe as being of infinite understanding (see Ps. 147: 5), is replete with ideas. So it seems logical to assume that these gifts are ideas—spiritual ideas. It is well to note that a gift of ideas can't deplete the source, for the sharing of ideas doesn't reduce their flow but multiples it, resulting in plenty for all. An idea is an image in thought. A spiritual idea is an inspired thought, a guidepost, a protecting arm, a bright light pointing the way, or an intuition gently nudging in the right direction.
