SPIRITUALIZING THOUGHT
through uncompromising reliance on Principle
When a business is failing—when sales are sliding and losses are mounting—the time has come to turn to God more than ever before and spiritualize one's thinking.
This spiritualizing of thought begins with commitment—commitment with one's whole heart to God's service. As the Bible tells us of King Hezekiah's fulfillment of his responsibility during his good reign in Israel: "In every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered." II Chron. 31:21;
This was my approach when I was given the reins of a failing business. I made a commitment to operate every phase of it by Christian standards. I knew that God is divine Principle. Christian Science had taught me that. And I determined there was to be no compromise in the application of the qualities of Principle in this business. No seeking an edge in dealing with employees or suppliers. No gray areas in expense accounts or dealings with the government. No reliance on alcohol or questionable entertaining practices in trying to get business.
