A Lawful Love Affair

We had planned to be married and we loved each other, so our sexual involvement had not seemed wrong. Then, abruptly, I found myself deserted by him.

Afterward I spent several days in tears, remorse, and self-pity. Finally, I determined that if Christian Science could help anyone it could certainly help me now. I pulled myself together and called a Christian Science practitioner, who said she would help. The practitioner felt I needed to get a more spiritual sense of relationship, so I looked up everything I could find on "relation" in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

What I discovered brought the first ray of hope into my dismal concept of life. I realized the truth of Mrs. Eddy's statement, "The relations of God and man, divine Principle and idea, are indestructible in Science." Science and Health, pp. 470, 471; I felt overwhelmingly grateful for the Father's unceasing perfect love. I realized that His love was constant, true, and could never be destroyed or separated from me, regardless of what I might have done. God's love was so precious and priceless, so unfailing, that I wanted to express love and gratitude to Him by becoming obedient to His law.
