An Escort of Angels

When a head of state travels, a suitable escort is provided to take care of transportation, protection, and whatever else is needed. Sometimes a personal physician is included in the party. Although not many of earth's inhabitants get such escorts, every one of us has the benefit of a far more effective escort—an escort of angels. The directing activity of angels is recorded throughout the Bible. We have the Old Testament assurance: "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared."^{Ex. 23:20;} Just as God led those who listened to His angel messages in Bible times, so today His messages are constantly being imparted to us to lead us into the right place at the right time.

These angels, as Mary Baker Eddy reminds us, are "God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality."^{Science and Health, p. 581.}

These angel messages from God are always with us. The humility that turns us to God for help makes us receptive to these angel thoughts. As we learn to listen to them, we learn to trust their guidance. Because God is wholly good, His angel messages are always good. They free us from fear and deliver us from trouble. When we follow their directing, our needs are met.
