through moral might

The average person is apt to think of "moral" as referring simply to the capacity to distinguish between right and wrong, particularly in connection with sexual behavior. But one of the most fascinating subjects to pursue in the study of Christian Science is the unfoldment of moral power. Its possibilities are endless. Moreover, it quickly becomes evident, if one researches the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy with the aid of Concordances, that moral power is basic. It is a prerequisite for the achievement of any good we desire, whether this involves health, income, better human relationships, real happiness, or even improved world conditions.

However, with so much attention focused on marital, premarital, and extramarital relationships today, the sexual aspect of the subject of morality deserves thoughtful research by Christian Scientists, though it isn't all there is to it.

In any period of changing life-styles there is always pressure on individuals, often great pressure, to redefine their values, adjust their standards to fit popular concepts so they can do what their peers are doing without pangs of conscience or criticism from those they may love and respect. Then if this change in values is not readily agreed to, the second pressure is to question these values: Aren't our standards outmoded? Who is to say what is right and what is wrong? Is there any intrinsic worth in a piece of paper labeled a marriage license?
