Overcoming Persecution
Driving home on the freeway one afternoon, I happened to tune in to a religious program on the car radio. The speaker was talking about persecution. He pointed out that we all resist being persecuted, usually with some self-justification, such as, "What have I done to deserve this!"
Then he stressed the point that we should ascertain whether we are being persecuted for righteousness' sake or for being unrighteous. He was alluding to the beatitude, "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matt. 5:10;
This set me thinking, for it was an interesting point to consider in the light of Christian Science; and was doubly interesting to me at the time because of difficulty our young son was having at school.
