The Healing Power of Spirit

In physics we learn that the characteristics of a given material substance are determined by the forces that make up that substance. A material object is not what it appears to be but, scientifically viewed, is largely empty space. What makes it appear as it does is the energy that forms the atoms of this particular substance. From a standpoint of physical research, we do not know what this energy is or where it comes from. We merely observe it is there, and we can draw enough conclusions from our observations to enable us to build atomic power plants and to send spaceships to an exact spot on the moon.

Elihu, speaking to Job, said, "There is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding."^{Job 32:8;} That there is any connection between the spirit in man that shows itself in religious faith, and energy, most physical scientists would either deny or consider speculative. And the world of physical science generally prefers to avoid considering the possibility that the healing of Christ Jesus could have been the result of his supremely scientific understanding of both Spirit and matter.

Assuming for a moment that the power that restored a withered hand and that called Lazarus forth from the tomb was natural, should we not consider Jesus a true natural Scientist? His Science, the Science of Christ, Truth, was the Science of all the forces of real being. Christian Science today is the Science Jesus lived and taught.
