It was through a member of my family that I became interested in Christian Science after seeing all the good that resulted from its application.

My first healing came about by my reading parts of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, to my mother at a time of her need. She was healed and lived long after the doctors had given her up. As a youngster I was tabbed with a condition of chronic catarrh, and the doctors who had been treating me at that time recommended we move to a dry climate. While I was reading to my mother, it became clear to us that heat or cold, north or south, dry or wet, had nothing to do with the health of a spiritual idea. God sustains man. Mrs. Eddy tells us, "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration" (Science and Health, p. 259). I was healed through the prayerful reading of the textbook, and the healing has been permanent.

Since then I have always relied on Christian Science to meet all my needs and to solve all my problems. Some of my demonstrations were brought about with the help of a Christian Science practitioner and some by my own study and application of the laws of God. I have also found that Christian Science is a preventative as well as a curative law.
