Making Cold Relationships Like New

The warmth, spontaneity, and freshness that often characterize a new relationship can be restored to a relationship that's grown cold. The key to making a cold relationship warmer is in properly viewing each person's true identity as spiritual. In this way we mend discords and are able to practice loving-kindness.

A fresh look at the true identity of a person can have vitalizing effects on a cold relationship. We can view him as God's spiritual image and likeness. The Christ, Truth, which Jesus demonstrated, can make us genuinely eager to have a cordial relationship. Jesus, in speaking of doing good deeds, referred to the Christly nature in all men when he said, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Matt. 25:40;

Knowledge of imperfection in another person can dampen the enthusiasm of a warm relationship. We may be tempted mainly to see imperfection and therefore to consider him less than good. Then it's necessary to see the spiritual truth of man as God's image. Christian Science shows us how to do this.
