I would like to tell of a wonderful healing I had of being a slave...

I would like to tell of a wonderful healing I had of being a slave to tobacco and how easy it was to break away from it, even after I had been using it for about fifty years.

I had been reading Christian Science literature off and on for some time, only using it when I thought it necessary, but my wife joined The Mother Church and a branch church. She often asked me if I would join the church, but I knew that if I did I would have to give up the use of tobacco. So I prayed to have the desire taken from me. I don't know just how long it took. One Friday night we went to the store for our groceries, and also my supply of tobacco—one carton of cigarettes and two cans of "roll your own."

When I got home, I opened the cigarettes, took one, and started to smoke. I sat down in the big chair, and when I got through with it, I didn't seem satisfied, so I lit another one. Right then I knew I was getting help, an answer to my prayer, and I told myself that when this tobacco was gone, I was through. When I rolled my last cigarette, I lit it and it went out. I still didn't want to give up, so I lit it again, and it went out again. That time I crumbled it in the ashtray. I never had any desire to smoke again. I was healed.
