Though I had been familiar with Christian Science for some time, I had never applied its healing Principle to my own need until I was separated from my husband for a period of six months as he took up work in another country. At first I was desolate, all alone for the first time and too dependent on him for everything. It seemed a terrible wrench.

In one of her messages to The Mother Church, Mrs. Eddy says (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 131), "Where God is we can meet, and where God is we can never part." That was the greatest comfort to me. I held to it for days while studying every spare moment and so overcame loneliness. Later, when it came time for me to join my husband in Europe, I was able to overcome a fear of commercial flight.

Through a mix-up in cables my husband had no idea when I would arrive in Europe. We were both aware of this and relied on divine guidance. The fruit of this reliance was realized when we met in a hotel in Germany just a few hours after my arrival. That morning he had left the town in which he was staying, and had been led to spend the night in the hotel I had chosen. The hotel had easily five hundred guests or more, but one of the desk clerks remembered having registered me and mentioned it to my husband as he was registering that evening, and so we were reunited.
