Regeneration and the Innocent Body

As we become conscious of ourselves living in God, we find ourselves governed by divine law. Soon we learn that there are no laws to punish the body. In fact, it is mortal mind, not the body, that suffers.

Divine law punishes sin until it is destroyed. One who sins will suffer for his sin. When being punished, he may believe his body is suffering as a result of divine law. But as one gains a spiritual sense of self, he sees that it is not the body but mortal mind that commits the sin, and that suffers. Then as the sin is overcome, not only is he free from mental suffering but from physical suffering as well.

If one who is not sinning appears to have a sick body as the result of breaking a so-called medical or natural law, his awakening to the truth of divine law shows him that the body is in fact innocent. Divine law reveals man as God's spiritual idea, governed by divine Love. Anyone who knows something of his identity as God's idea, and lives it, can claim his divine right to reject disease and suffering and to enjoy perfect health.
