Four generations in my family have been Christian Scientists. My great-grandmother was healed of invalidism and became a Christian Science practitioner. By the time I reached adulthood I had demonstrated Christian Science for myself. As a child I suffered frequent earaches, and the school authorities were upset, because my hearing was affected. We called a Christian Science practitioner every time I had one of these attacks. Then, when I had overcome a trait of stubbornness in my thinking, I never had an earache again. That was eighteen years ago, and my hearing is now above normal.

Also I suffered from tonsillitis. The school nurse said that my tonsils must be removed immediately. I came to realize that in fact it was a fearful belief that needed to be removed, not a piece of matter. When I completely let go of this human fear and trusted God, I was healed.

A kidney problem I had became extremely severe one night. The evidence looked alarming, and the normal action of my body stopped. I seemed to be passing on, but I refused to admit that I might die. I knew that Life, God, was my reason for being and Life could never die. I recovered. The whole problem and its complications faded away forever.
