Some years ago, through great need, I was led to take up the study of Christian Science. One day I prayed earnestly to God to heal me. The next day my brother, who was not a Christian Scientist, came to see me, and told me of a healing his wife's sister had of Bright's disease in the last stages after she had studied Christian Science a month.
I was in California at the time for my health, and not knowing much about Christian Science, I asked my brother where to go to find out about it. He told me to go to the Christian Science Reading Room, which I did, for I felt this was an answer to my prayer. I purchased a Christian Science Sentinel and read it through with interest. For the first time I learned there were a Christian Science textbook and practitioners to help one.
I then borrowed the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and found it so helpful and interesting that I read every moment I could. The Preface of the textbook opens with, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." And the next paragraph opens with, "The time for thinkers has come." I read these statements over several times and realized that I could be healed. Also the question came to me, "How have I been thinking?"
