An Aircraft Landing
"AD-315, you are on final approach course. Perform landing checks."
As pilot of the military jet aircraft, I applied pressure to the landing gear handle and discovered that the handle was stuck in the "up" position. A quick check with the copilot revealed that his control handle in the rear seat was also inoperative. With minimal spare fuel remaining, I executed a missed approach, declared an emergency, and headed for my home base one hundred miles away.
Although I'm a student of Christian Science, an army of fearful human thoughts invaded my consciousness as I initiated a climb to altitude:
