"AND THE CHILD GREW..."
When the hills around Nazareth
Echoed with the shouts
Of his brothers at play,
Did Jesus join them?
If so, it must have been
With his eyes toward the light,
Though yet undefinable,
His mission in sight.
And when was his first healing,
Of a bird, of a lamb,
Of his brother?
And did his brother
Begin to understand
What Jesus knew—
Of the love of Love,
Of life in God—
Or only his mother?
"And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him" (Luke 2:40).
