The Bible's Lessons for Today

The Bible lives today because it is wholly concerned with life. Its pages are replete, not with dogma and creed, but with the living truth—the very truth Christ Jesus referred to when he said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32; More than words, here is the Word of God, the timeless truth of eternal being. In the understanding and demonstration of this truth lies the way to freedom and dominion.

Underlying all its lessons, the Bible records the emerging understanding of God as the great I AM, the source of all real being. It reveals that His will is law, which cannot be overthrown. From Genesis to Revelation the Bible recounts the growing realization that this great I Am is wholly good, that He is to be loved, trusted, and obeyed.

Surely the first lesson that we learn from Scripture is obedience to moral and spiritual law. The success of the children of Israel was proportionate to their obedience to the law given them by the great I AM. They progressed to the extent they served, not the matter–god of their molten calves, but the infinite Spirit whose nature and will was revealed to them in the Ten Commandments.
