Paul and Woman
Paul, the male chauvinist, he has been called. What a blind stereotype for the great Christian! As so often where the Bible is concerned, the observer may be baffled who is not keenly aware of the spiritual dimension.
Then how about Paul and woman?
We are wise if we don't start thinking of Paul as some one–sided, chill ascetic just because, in the years of his apostleship at least, he is single—totally and joyfully devoted to his work for Christ. His children are the men, women, and young people he has brought into Christ's family. He stands out not only in masculine vigor of intellect and action but in qualities sometimes thought of as more native to a woman—marvelously spiritual in his perceptions, often deeply tender, mothering as well as fathering those little Christian groups he had brought into being.
