LAZARUS

"He said, 'Come forth!' His love was swift—a ray
Along my dark. I came then, free from hurt.
No loss, no fear, no hate, no pain can stay

The Life that makes us one. O let me start
To live this Life his deep and light–filled way—
To love like him. He lived the truth he taught:

There is no life but Love . . . I heard him pray.
I felt the strength of Jesus' sunlight art
Release in me his joy, unclothe the day.

Your life is new whose love is new; your thought
Is deathless, fresh like mine. Now hear Truth say
To you 'Come forth!' The Christ is in your heart."
