Today the perennial question returns with renewed urgency—in what does a man's life really consist? The young raise it out of their dissatisfaction with the ethos of contemporary society. They agree with Jesus that "a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth." ...

The young ... feel that the coming age will require people of a temper altogether different. I myself expressed much the same feeling, in a broadcast called "Youth Looks Ahead" some 35 years ago, with these words:
