Recently on television I heard an entomologist speak of serious consequences that on some occasions have been known to come from wasp stings. This made me recall with gratitude a healing experience I had sixteen years ago.

While working on ground cover, I came in contact with a wasps nest and was stung twelve times. The pain was intense, but as I had been taught in my early days in a Christian Science Sunday School (Matt. 5:25), "Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him," I reversed the Adam lie immediately and established in thought my identity as God's child. My sister and I were alone at the time, and she too prayed to support me. I continued to pray through the night, since the pain and inflammation kept me awake, but by the second day everything had cleared up. My gratitude was great, but at no time had I any fear or doubt as to the outcome.

My mother, father, and sister were brought into Christian Science through the healing of my brother-in-law, who was suffering from a severe eye condition. And the medical prediction was that he would become blind. My mother had had a medically unexplained healing years before through her sincere prayer to God after she had been given up by specialists to pass on from uremic poisoning. Her recovery astonished the doctors, and they called it a miracle. Therefore when she commenced to read Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, she knew immediately that this was what she had been looking for.
