There have been many healings through Christian Science in my life, and I am very grateful for them. The mast outstanding one occurred while I was in college, and it followed a period during which I had neglected Christian Science and its teachings almost entirely.

I was working on an oil-burning furnace trying to repair a faulty ignition mechanism, and as I opened the door of the furnace it exploded, severely burning my face. Up to this time I had not been to a doctor since my parents took up the study of Christian Science when I was about six years old. So when this accident occurred, I had no inclination to go to a doctor for aid but sought out a student of Christian Science, who took me immediately to his home. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and also this boy's father came home from work to be of assistance. The one outstanding thought that I remember he shared with me was that because of God's all-including love nothing had really happened to mar a child of God. He told me of several of his own experiences in demonstrating the power of Truth over the belief of accident.

In a short time, under the practitioner's prayerful treatment, I was entirely free from pain and well enough to have lunch and then be taken to my home about forty miles away. The healing was not instantaneous, and much prayer was needed to overcome fear of the various manifestations of injury that kept appearing. However, in less than two weeks I had a whole new face, without a blemish. The beautiful part of this healing was the spiritual uplift I felt throughout the experience.
