I think it is time that I give a testimony. For many years I have received much help from the testimonies given in our periodicals.

It was through the healing of our five-year-old son that I took up the study of Christian Science. He was ruptured at the navel from the time he was seventeen months old. The doctors tried different things but to no avail. They said an operation would be the only cure. We intended to have an operation before he entered school.

My mother and two sisters were students of Christian Science. My sisters told him that if he went to the Christian Science Sunday School he would learn that God would heal him. He had attended the Sunday School with my sister when she visited us.

One Sunday he asked his father and me if he might go to the Christian Science Sunday School so God would heal him. I was willing. His daddy agreed and asked him if he wanted him to go with him. He replied that he wanted to go alone. In a short time I noticed that he was healed. At five years of age he had much faith in God.

For many years I had had sick headaches and had taken different kinds of medicine. One morning I could not find my medicine and asked our little son if he had seen it. He said that he had thrown it into the fireplace and that God would heal me. I was healed of the headaches and also of constipation. His faith in God's healing power was sure. In the Bible we read that "a little child shall lead them" (Isa. 11:6).

Soon after taking up the study of Christian Science I was healed of using tea and coffee. At first I thought I could depend on a Christian Science practitioner to keep me well, but I soon saw that I had to find my help in God for myself, as we are taught in Science. In times of great pain or fear it is wise to ask help from a practitioner to give us a boost so that we may carry on if the problem is not met quickly. I am grateful that I have been able to work out most of my problems by my own prayerful work and study.

Last year I seriously injured my knees in a fall on the concrete walk. For several days I was unable to walk alone and had to have help or push a chair before me for support. As I continued to pray and look to God for my support, there was a complete healing in a period of two months.

I have been healed of grief at the passing of loved ones and of homesickness, which held me in bondage to my child and husband. I thank God for my freedom from these errors which caused me so much unhappiness. I am very grateful to God for Mrs. Eddy and for class instruction with a consecrated teacher. Christian Science has brought me many years of peace, which the material world cannot give.
