God's Kingdom is Within You

In answer to an inquiry about when the kingdom of God should come, Christ Jesus said, "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." Luke 17:20, 21; The kingdom of God, divine Mind, is not discernible through material sight, nor is it found in a particular location. It is of necessity a state of spiritual consciousness.

The Apostle Paul admonishes us, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." Phil. 2:5; A study of the teachings of Jesus shows that he was convinced of the supreme power of God to destroy any form of evil. The consistency of his healing works reveals that he was equally certain of God's omnipresence. His rejection of the outward, material sense of things proved his assurance of the omniscience of God. The acknowledgment of these three exclusive qualities of Mind—omnipotence, or all-power, omnipresence, or all-presence, and omniscience, or all-science or true knowledge—is of prime importance to achieving the "mind ... which was ... in Christ Jesus," the absolute, divine Truth that constitutes the kingdom "within" us.

The starting point for achieving this kingdom must be a right concept of God. Christian Science has brought a clearly definitive explanation of God and His kingdom. It was the dawning of the healing Christ, the true idea of God, on Mrs. Eddy's thought, bringing about her recovery from the effects of an accident, that set her to searching for a positive method of doing the healing works Jesus did and expected his followers to repeat.
