"For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found" (Luke 15:24). This quotation from Christ Jesus' parable of the prodigal son describes my condition ten years ago. At that time I was very sick, both mentally and physically. I gave up a good job and left the city where I was living, not knowing where I would go but that I had to try to get away from all the unhappiness and constant pain.

Even though I had been living a very unchristian life, I can see now that God was guiding me, as I had always prayed to Him. I was led to a southern city, and the landlady where I was staying saw my plight and offered Christian Science. I refused at first as I did not really believe in divine healing. Later, in desperation, I agreed to see a Christian Science practitioner. I was immediately healed of the symptoms of ulcers while reading what the practitioner had told me to study.

My life since then has been one of consistent progress for good. Smoking and drinking habits fell away without any special prayer being directed to these problems. Lack, a violent temper, and distrust of my fellowmen have been overcome. Severe headaches and depression have been conquered.
