Although I have expressed gratitude at various testimony meetings for a demonstration of God's power I experienced during the Second World War, I feel a written expression is long overdue.

I was a member of the Army Air Force in the Southwest Pacific theater. At the time of the Philippine invasion I was aboard a ship behind the initial assault on Leyte. There was not sufficient room on land to accommodate our units, so we remained on board ship in the harbor. We were permitted to put up a large tarpaulin over the number four hatch to give us shade from the tropical sun, and we spent our days quite comfortably.

The enemy did not seem the least bit interested in any of the ships, concentrating their fire on land targets. This continued for two weeks, until Sunday morning, November 12, 1944.
