How grateful I am that my mother sent me to a Christian Science Sunday School...

How grateful I am that my mother sent me to a Christian Science Sunday School! Since childhood my identification with and practice of scientific Christianity has opened the way in my thought to know the God who blesses and heals without measure. In high school I attended Sunday School only irregularly, but when I went away to the state university, I joined a Christian Science college organization that gave me needed spiritual strength, physical healing, and the inspiration to excel. While in college, I became a member of a branch church and The Mother Church.

When I left school for four years of naval duty, I found the care of The Mother Church was present through its Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services. By continuing in branch church work whenever my assignment made this possible, and especially by prayerful application of the Christ, Truth, I was led, step by step, to trust in God and overcome a false sense of delay and frustration. When opportunities around me to serve God were seen and utilized, I discovered I was in my right place, in God. With this conviction I was given an assignment using all my prior civilian education and talents.

As a lifelong student of Science, I have always turned to God for healing. Hence my gratitude for the following demonstration of His ever-present love. In 1965, while returning with a friend from a long automobile trip, we were involved in an accident serious enough to destroy the car. Because my friend was an alert Christian Scientist, she was able to render care and call for assistance. Christian Science treatment by an experienced practitioner began at once. When I awoke in a Christian Science sanatorium, the effectiveness of the metaphysical treatment was evident. Christian Science treatment was continued, and the effects of the accident—impaired vision, laceration, and cerebral concussion—were completely healed.
