About fifteen years ago I went to an optometrist for a routine check on my glasses. I had no special concern, for I had been wearing glasses for many years. During the examination I could tell that the doctor was disturbed. He prescribed nothing but asked me to come back in a month. This I did, and at that time he again looked at my eyes and said that I should come back within a year.

What I did not know was that the doctor took my daughter into another room and said that there was a clouding of the lens due to cataracts and that when that condition had matured sufficiently there would have to be an operation on my eyes.

On the way home I began to work as we are taught to do in Christian Science. I never once allowed myself to become discouraged or unhappy with the situation. I declared that nothing could ever prevent my seeing spiritually. "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494). I was certain that my sight could not be impaired.
