As soon as I read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health...
As soon as I read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, when I was in my teens, I knew that therein lay the answer to all problems. When the opportunity came, I attended Christian Science services. And I am most grateful to have proved for the past twenty years that Christian Science is indeed the Comforter promised to us by our Master, Christ Jesus.
Each day I am learning more about the unreality of matter and its laws, and I understand more fully Jesus' saying (Matt. 6:33), "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall he added unto you." Through the daily study and practice of Christian Science our family's needs have been met abundantly, pain has disappeared, and consistent good health has been experienced by us all. A tense and nervous disposition, which I seemed to have had from childhood, has given way to a free and relaxed way of living.
A recent healing helped me get rid of a sense of false responsibility toward my family and my church. After I had been elected a Reader in our Christian Science Society, I was stricken with pains in my right shoulder. I prayed to see the unreality of any condition not brought about by God's law. However, the pain spread to my arm and down to my hand, making it hard for me to do my work or to sleep comfortably. I looked up "right hand" in the Concordances, and after studying many citations from the Bible and Science and Health, I could see clearly that all power belongs to God and that I had been taking upon myself false responsibility for a small society and also for our four children.
