This testimony is written in the hope that it will comfort and help the parents of young men who are in the military service. We had two sons in the Marines at the time of the Korean War. Our eldest son was with an amphibious tank battalion stationed in Korea. When I received word of this, I was very fearful and concerned for him. I decided to have help front a Christian Science practitioner, who provided wonderful prayerful support. She assured me that, in reality, God's sons are not in a war but are always in their rightful places doing the work that God has given them to do. She helped me see that our son, as an idea of God, was exempt from hate, fear, and danger. Although he remained in Korea for a few months more, he was completely protected. His brother entered the service a year later and was stationed in Japan for a time.

I know it was the good work of the practitioner and also the prayers of friends and former Christian Science Sunday School teachers that helped us all see that military service does not have to be an ordeal but that it can be a stepping-stone of progress. Afterward both sons said they enjoyed seeing faraway "lands and people, in addition to being given government assistance that enabled them to complete their college education.

Our third son recently served in the Army, and he too gained much from this experience and went on to graduate from college. I am very grateful for these proofs of God's care and protection.
