A Principle to Demonstrate

Many people long for some kind of ethic they can apply to every human situation in which they may find themselves. They want a theory or system of moral values that is demonstrable at all times. Perhaps these same people do not realize that Christian Science supplies their need by revealing that God is divine Principle. Not that God can be called an ethic, but Principle is all-embracing Truth that is present everywhere and available to destroy every human error or to settle every mortal dilemma. There is always a spiritual fact or a right standard or a decent point of view to work out; and these are expressions of the one Principle of being.

Principle, as Christian Science explains it, is Love; and Love is Principle because Love is always good, just, generous, pure, and truthful. John said some very important things about Love in his Epistles, a sentence in one of which reads, "God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." John 4:16;

John made another statement that shows what the position of the individual must be who is ready to accept Love as the all-governing Principle of existence. He said, "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God." v. 7;
