Listen, Follow, and Rejoice

A good sense of direction, like perfect pitch, is often considered to be an inborn trait which some people possess and others have to do without. As Christian Scientists learn more of man's inherent qualities as the reflection of the one Father-Mother God, they find to their delight that the ability to discern the right way or the right answer is not limited by chance to a few but belongs to everyone who claims and demonstrates his real selfhood. This true sense of direction not only applies to finding one's way out of the woods, but also provides a perception of the right way out of every seeming difficulty.

The divine Mind, God, constantly expresses itself in spiritual ideas of supply, harmonious direction, and abundant activity. Sometimes this expression is referred to in the Bible as God's voice, and in many cases it has seemed to be an audible admonition, salutation, or answer. However God's voice manifests itself, every individual, through knowing himself as the child of God, can receive a proper sense of direction from his loving Father.

We listen for God's voice by silencing the clamor of the physical senses, shutting out doubt and fear, and turning wholeheartedly to divine Love. Our receptivity to the still small voice of Christ, Truth, which comes to us as surely as it came to Elijah, is in proportion to our understanding of our true identity as a spiritual idea, the expression of omniscient, unerring Mind.
