Where Are We Going?
Mortals are confident that they are here, that they exist; but they persistently ask, Where are we going?
Through the study of Christian Science we can learn that we are not mortals as we seem to be and have been taught to believe we are. Here and now we are immortal, spiritual ideas expressing God, who is eternal and infinite Mind, Spirit. And divine Science lifts our thinking above the mortal beliefs of existence. It enables us to see that our goal is a state of perfect, spiritual consciousness that must be gained through the correction and purification of human thought.
It is as if symbolically Christian Science shows us our ultimate spiritual objective on a high mountaintop. In the valley below is the belief, or illusion, of mortal existence. Between the two states of consciousness is the trail leading upward.
