Forty years ago my father was introduced to Christian Science while on a business trip. I shall always be grateful for his receptive thought, which quickly grasped the worth of this teaching of God and of man's relationship to Him. My mother, too, became interested, and I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School. These years were priceless to me, for there I learned to make practical in my everyday experience the teachings of the Bible. As a result I can see God's guidance throughout the years in the orderly unfoldment of each step of progress in my experience, including a most harmonious marriage. I can truly bear witness to Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 454), "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way."
At one time I was very much in need of employment, and for several months I prayed and sought God's guidance on this problem, first by myself and then with the help of a Christian Science practitioner. One Wednesday noon I attended a Christian Science testimony meeting. As I waited for the meeting to begin, this quotation came to me (Miscellaneous Writings by Mrs. Eddy, p. 307): "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies." I prayed humbly and earnestly to be receptive to the right ideas I knew God was ever pouring out to me.
As I left the church, I suddenly recalled a plan I had conceived of during my school years for business expansion in the field for which I was trained. Remembering my prayer, I asked the Father to show me where to turn to offer this plan to benefit others. Quickly I thought of a firm that might be interested, although I did not know anyone connected with this company. In obedience I turned around and went directly to this firm, praying all the way to be shown each step I should take. The man I needed to see was in; and when I told him of my plan, he was amazed and said, "I've had that idea for a long time but never acted upon it."
