The Building Program and the World

A religion that has brought healing to millions of people must be of interest to the world. Christian Science is such a religion. The fact that it has restored Christian healing to the worship of the one God, Love, is attested by the Churches of Christ, Scientist, that have sprung up over our planet. This growth is not surprising when we realize that scientific Christianity demonstrates the all-embracing love of Love; it reveals God's love as a power that can be utilized in any age to overcome whatever is negative, whether suffering, poverty, or sin.

Mary Baker Eddy first discovered through her own healing the divine law that Christ Jesus and prophets before him had demonstrated in various ways. Then she tested her understanding of that law by healing many cases of illness. Then she taught others to heal and sent many students into the world in accord with Jesus' words: "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. . . . And these signs shall follow them that believe; . . . they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." ^{Mark 16:15-18;}

Mrs. Eddy says: "God is universal; confined to no spot, defined by no dogma, appropriated by no sect. Not more to one than to all, is God demonstrable as divine Life, Truth, and Love; and His people are they that reflect Him—that reflect Love." ^{Miscellaneous Writings, p. 150;} One the next page she says, "God is our Father and our Mother, our Minister and the great Physician." ^{p. 151;}
