This testimony as to the efficacy of Christian Science is long overdue
This testimony as to the efficacy of Christian Science is long overdue. Christian Science was first introduced to me when I was in my twenties. I knew very little about God, having been to only a few sessions of Sunday School when I was small. I had been taught by my mother that there is a God to be revered, but during my college days I had been exposed to agnosticism and was not quite sure what I believed.
Suddenly I became ill and was told by a physician that I had a cyst in my ovary, and that unless it was removed it might cause me great trouble, that it might even become malignant.
A friend who was appearing in a play I had written was a student of Christian Science. She insisted on taking me to a practitioner. This woman was kind in the face of my bitterness and doubts. Finally, unable to penetrate my darkness of disbelief, she said, "You are sore at the world, blaming it for your own inadequacies. Sore in mind, sore in body."
