RADIO PROGRAM NO. 311 — You Don't Need to Be Afraid

Questioner: Each day most of us hear or read about descriptions of disease. No doubt many of us are acquainted, too, with the fear such descriptions and reports can create in thought. It's something many of us feel we simply have to learn to live with.

Speaker: The Bible offers a way for us to overcome fear. Referring to God's presence it says (Isa. 41:10), "Fear thou not; for I am with thee," and, "My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest" (Ex. 33:14). These verses emphasize that one can never be outside the presence and control of God, divine Love, and the awareness of this presence of God destroys fear. The understanding of this simple truth, which even a child can learn, brings freedom from fear of sudden attacks of disease.

Questioner: Some people feel that fear can be valuable. For example, someone who's afraid of a sudden attack of some kind isn't going to drive himself too hard.
